Me!

Hello there! My name is Marios Tziortzis (Jor-ji-s) and this is my personal site. I’m in my mid-twenties and everything from this point and forward will be about me :P. Anyhoo, I was born and raised in Cyprus, the third largest island in the Mediterranean. After acquiring a BSc in Computer Science and Engineering and an MSc in Internet computing from the University of Surrey, I moved back home in Cyprus where I started working as a freelance web designer and developer. For additional education details and achievements check out my CV. The purpose of this website is to promote my work, my photography and to have a little space on the net that I can call home. This website was designed and developed having Web Standards in mind. You can contact me here or look me up on facebook here.

My Photography

I started taking photos in the summer of 2006 when I got my first digital camera and ever since it became a hobby of mine. My first camera was a Canon PowerShot A620 and I really love it! In the summer of 2007 I bought a Canon 350D (Digital Rebel XT) and I’m loving it even more! I am not a photographer but i really enjoy taking photos and digitally process them. Currently my gear consists of:

  • Canon PowerShot A620
  • Canon Digital Rebel XT (350D)
  • Canon EFS 18-55mm f/3.5 – 5.6 (Kit Lens)
  • Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II
  • Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6

The photos displayed in this website are retrieved from my flickr account thanks to their sleek API. More of my photography here.

My Work

Over the years I’ve developed various custom made systems, like CMS engines, that would fit my needs. Currently I am using WordPress for this blog with a couple of custom plugins and modifications. Besides that I’ve worked on various personal projects, business’ custom made systems or even contributed code on friends’ projects. Apart from that, I recently started designing what I am developing. I just want my projects to be usable and also functional! More on my work here.

This Site

This site is design to work on all browsers that support web standards. It is written in XHTML & CSS and according to W3 my code is valid. For all the coding I used Notepad++ on Windows and Coda on my iMac. The design was made on Adobe’s Photoshop CS4 with lots of love!

Hi

Saw your pics & they are really nice. May I know what equipment are you using especially your lenses? I’ll be buying my own camera soon and I need some tips esp choice of lenses. Thank you.

Hey!

I found your site on flickr and although I made the switch to my MacBook back in December, your post on Mac tips really showed me a lot of stuff I had missed whilst getting used to the Mac.

Other than both being Mac switchers/users, we have something else in common. And that is, after reading this page, I realised you only live just down the road from me! I live in Woking. You probably are familiar with it considering we’re both in Surrey.. ;)

So yeah, thats about it for me.. just pointing something out! :D

Nice site and keep up the good work!

Aron

Hey Aron! Thanks for your comments!
Yeah I am aware of Woking. I sometimes go there to take photos or do some shopping. It’s a nice little town.
I’m glad you liked the Mac Tips post. I’m planning to posts some more in the future so stay tuned!

Hey Marios,
I love the site design! The black and red go very well together and the whole thing flows very smoothly. Nice work!
