Me!

Hello there! My name is Marios Tziortzis (Jor-ji-s) and this is my personal site. I’m in my mid-twenties and everything from this point and forward will be about me :P. Anyhoo, I was born and raised in Cyprus, the third largest island in the Mediterranean. After acquiring a BSc in Computer Science and Engineering and an MSc in Internet computing from the University of Surrey, I moved back home in Cyprus where I started working as a freelance web designer and developer. For additional education details and achievements check out my CV. The purpose of this website is to promote my work, my photography and to have a little space on the net that I can call home. This website was designed and developed having Web Standards in mind. You can contact me here or look me up on facebook here.

My Photography

I started taking photos in the summer of 2006 when I got my first digital camera and ever since it became a hobby of mine. My first camera was a Canon PowerShot A620 and I really love it! In the summer of 2007 I bought a Canon Digital Rebel XT (350D). In 2010 I bought a Canon Digital Rebel T2i (550D) and I’m loving it even more! Currently my gear consists of:

  • Canon Digital Rebel T2i (550D)
  • Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM
  • Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II
  • Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6
  • Vivitar 285HV
  • YN460 Speedlite
  • YN460-II Speedlite
  • 120x80cm ebay Softbox
  • A couple of ebay wireless triggers, tripods and umbrellas.

The photos displayed in this website are retrieved from my flickr account thanks to their sleek API. More of my photography here.

My Work

Over the years I’ve developed various custom made systems, like CMS engines, that would fit my needs. Currently I am using WordPress for this blog with a couple of custom plugins and modifications. Besides that I’ve worked on various personal projects, business’ custom made systems or even contributed code on friends’ projects. Apart from that, I recently started designing what I am developing. I just want my projects to be usable and also functional! More on my work here.
