Finally it arrived. Well to be honest waiting for the new lens was the easy part. I had to choose from a vast variety of lenses before I ended up buying this one. Let’s take things from the top though. The regular readers should have known by now that I’m really keen in photography. If you are new here then you should check my Photography section where I have a rather huge collection of photos I take every now and then. As I was saying, photography started as an innocent hobby and ended up as an obsession of mine! After one year I switched from the ordinary ‘point-and-shoot’ to the powerful DSLR. Getting a new lens after a couple of months was unavoidable!
So after four months of countless shots with my kit lens, I decided to get a more specific, than my all-purpose lens. I’ve spend many, MANY hours looking for a lens that would be more appropriate for me. I decided to go for a wide angle lens but when I found out about the prices on those I changed my mind! Eventually after a lot of thought (and limitations on my current budget) I found a rather cheap lens just to start with. The Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II lens was just right! After reading the related reviews I was convinced!
So here I am, with my new lens. The lens gives a really nice DOF effect and from some experiments I did, it can also give a really nice Bokeh effect with the right conditions. Below is a sample photo using the new lens:

This photo was taken with relatively good light conditions and no post processing was made on it except resizing it to fit in here. The light-weight, cheap and small lens does miracles. Getting used of the fixed focal length is challenging though and I hope to get used to it really soon. The only problem I had with this lens is the fact that I need to get a bigger camera holder/bag to fit my 18-55mm lens in there as well :P
