Well, I’m back in the UK after a really productive month back home. Many things happened back home in the last couple of weeks. First things first though. You might have noticed a slight change in the design of the site. Well as I said to some close friends, the site had a facelift. Still it has the same colours and design ideas but with a more professional look. It’s like evolution. Dropping out the unnecessary parts and acquiring new ones. It’s been over a year since the launch of this site and I had to give something back. I’m very pleased with the results and hope you are too. So what other changes are there? Continue reading to find out more.

So what has changed?

  • I’ve changed the headers and footers too have a more clean line. Also added some nice lighting and 3D effects on the header.
  • I also changed the navigation on the top. I think now is more clear where the navigation bar is.
  • I removed Google Ads from the site completely. It was taking up space and increased the total page load time. I wasn’t making that much money anyway.
  • I also optimized the site regarding CSS and images. It now runs a bit faster after some tests I did.
  • Firefox, Safari and IE 6 (Don’t know about IE 7) render the site pretty much the same.

As mentioned before more things took place the last couple of weeks. I was busy setting up an HP server back home for one project/client I am working for. My first choice was Ubuntu of course (Server Edition). This beast was a quad core Xeon machine. I did some reading and successfully configured RAID-1. Everything worked as expected. This machine works pretty fast for some thousands SQL queries :P

Another thing that kept me busy was Apple; and to be more precise Apple’s iPhone. A couple of friends decided to get iPhones for the Christmas holidays. All of them had the 1.1.2 OTB firmware which as of today (19th Jan 2008) is yet unlockable (software unlockable that is). They wanted though to play and explore their new gadget and basically jailbreak it. They eventually found out that I can jailbreak iPhones quite easy. Don’t get me wrong but anybody can jailbreak their iPhone. They just happen to trust me more than anybody else. Anywho there was one point where I had four iPhones home at the same time, all jailbroken and updated to 1.1.2. I really wanted to share this so I took a picture right away :P

Now I’m pretty sure I’ll be getting phone calls really soon when the 1.1.2 OTB official software unlock is out. Thank God that these guys are studying in the UK as well!

Now, acedemic-wise, I was also working on my Final Year Project. I know that some of you asked to give you more details but I’m afraid I cannot give you a live demo. Well, not until it is fully developed. It’s going pretty good though.

So there you have it. These are some of the things that kept me busy the last couple of weeks. I just realized that this is my first post for the year 2008! Wow, new design along with the new year. 2008 started pretty good and I hope it stays that way! Happy new year by the way! :P
