Shooting photos in RAW
Posted on 20th of March, 2008
Lately I’ve been working on Adobe’s Photoshop CS3 more than usual. I have a rather good ‘relationship’ with it. I started working with it a couple years ago in early 2006. Ever since I use it daily. Either for a design project or for photo editing, Photoshop gets me. Lately though, I’ve been experimenting with new techniques and new tools. The reason was simple. I’ve started taking photos in RAW rather than compressed JPEG. This gave me the ability to correct colors and adjust them without distorting the image. I’ve collected some photos I took over the last couple of weeks and have before and after shots. This will give you a rough idea why RAW is my weapon of choice.

Before and after shot on a really bright day but dark subject

So there you have it. Some photos may appear rather dark or dull when originally taken but that doesn’t mean that a photo can’t be processed to look a bit better.
